Nesting

For Blake’s pregnancy, I definitely wanted the nursery to look perfect. Jamie, remember painting the stripes in his room? I loved how everything turned out.

For the twins, we wanted to do something simple and neutral since we don’t know what we are having. And once I hit 33 weeks this past Friday, I was in official nesting mode. The crib and changing table were delivered just in time for me to get my fix! We’ve decided to put one crib in our room for them to share for awhile (below) and one crib in the nursery.

Here’s a few shots including one of our big boy helping out too. He dusted, cleaned the mirrors with Mike, vacuumed, and even helped me pack my bag for the hospital (more on that later)! I think we are all a little anxious and excited for the new babes to get here.

My Rustic Owl-Themed Baby Shower

Last weekend, my loving sister, cousin, and mom threw we an intimate baby shower for the twins. At first, I was planning on having something after the babies were born (since we aren’t finding out the sexes) but after some convincing, a shower was planned to take care of the necessary stuff (and so much more). Since it was just going to be my family, I envisioned it as a: let’s grab some sammies, kick up our feet, chat about girl stuff, maybe watch a movie, really relaxed baby shower. Then I walked in.

I’m warning you now, I posted way too many pictures. But the DETAILS. And the love and energy that went into making it such a memorable day: from the cute “When is the water going to break?” plastic baby-in-an-ice cube-game, to the delicious sit down lunch, to the table decor, to the adorable invitations. My family is an amazing one.

Thank you Jamie, Crystal, and Mom. I love you.

P.S. Check out Crystal’s blog for even more inspiration if you are planning a baby shower with an owl theme. She shares about how they did everything, where they bought most of the goodies, the cute games we played, etc.

30 Weeks & Craft Night

Well, today I went in for my 30 week ultrasound of the twins. Have they grown! Each are weighing in around three pounds. Can you believe it? That’s bigger than Blake’s total weight when he was born!

Like I’ve shared with many of you lately, I’m not 100% sold on the C-section route so wish me luck that these babies turn (Twin A has his/her feet down while Twin B is diagonal). I also was told that my appointments, as of 2/11/13, are going to be twice a week. Whoa. It’s really getting close… and I can’t wait!

Since the twins weren’t really cooperating when we were trying to take their picture, I decided to share a few shots of my baby Blake. We had a little craft night filled with way too much glue, water-colored hearts, flowers made out of tissue paper (remember making these as kids?), and card stock. Valentine’s Day is weeks away but who knows what is going to happen with this belly full of babies!

21 Weeks & 6 Days

Yes.. once this posts I’ll be 22 weeks already! I can’t believe how fast it’s going… and how slow it’s going. I’ve been so sick lately (hence the lack of blogging) because my immune system sucks.

Thursday, I went to another doc appointment. Here’s some updates on the twinsies:

Twin B is officially ONE POUND and Twin A is not too far behind.
Twin A is still really really active while Twin B poses for the ultrasounds…
Hmm Boy/Girl maybe? :)
And, yes, we still aren’t going to find out the sexes until they are born.

15 Weeks

Well, I’ve grown.

I’m finally kinda looking pregnant. And I’m definitely feeling the pains of being pregnant–hello sciatica! With Blake, I got a taste of this uncomfortableness that runs down my back to my bootie. Yes, my bootie. And now with the twins, I’m that girl with a thumb shoved into her “cheek” walking along trying to just get from one room to another.

Four months is just around the corner. Can’t wait to see what new things I can share!

About 13 Weeks Along

Last Friday, I went in for another ultrasound/blood work to check for Down Syndrome. This is the first of many appointments at the main ultrasound place. Because I’m carrying twins, I have to flip back and forth from my regular doc to the ultrasound place. Sounds ok to me! More pics to share of the little ones.

At the time they took these snapshots, Baby A was being difficult (and actually at the regular doc appointment, he/she was being a little crazy… limbs moving every which way!) and Baby B was sitting and waiting for his/her picture to be taken. I wonder if this is how it’s going to be once they arrive. :)

Still craving peanut butter. Soup, crackers, and cheese pizza are my go-tos. Veggie sammies are up there too. I can’t stand the smell of french fries or really any fast food. My skin reminds me of when I was 13 and breaking out everywhere (chest included.. HOT). And.. last but not least, I barely fit into my clothes. I’m excited though…I’m finally feeling better and not so…”I feel like I want to barf” every time I eat, brush my teeth, walk up the stairs.

Post coming soon about Blakey’s FUN, yet quiet, birthday party we had over the weekend. He’s going to be such a great big brother to these two.

xoxo

A Wonderful Surprise

On Friday, August 24, I had a doctor’s appointment. Well, we did.

I was nervous, emotional, cranky, and anxious. Everything went away, though, when the doctor said, “You are definitely pregnant…and having twins!” Although I’m only 8 weeks and a few days along, I already can’t help but feel completely blessed to be a mom again. It’s been a tough road getting to this point.

Here are a few shots of our happy day. One that will always be treasured.
