About 13 Weeks Along

Last Friday, I went in for another ultrasound/blood work to check for Down Syndrome. This is the first of many appointments at the main ultrasound place. Because I’m carrying twins, I have to flip back and forth from my regular doc to the ultrasound place. Sounds ok to me! More pics to share of the little ones.

At the time they took these snapshots, Baby A was being difficult (and actually at the regular doc appointment, he/she was being a little crazy… limbs moving every which way!) and Baby B was sitting and waiting for his/her picture to be taken. I wonder if this is how it’s going to be once they arrive. :)

Still craving peanut butter. Soup, crackers, and cheese pizza are my go-tos. Veggie sammies are up there too. I can’t stand the smell of french fries or really any fast food. My skin reminds me of when I was 13 and breaking out everywhere (chest included.. HOT). And.. last but not least, I barely fit into my clothes. I’m excited though…I’m finally feeling better and not so…”I feel like I want to barf” every time I eat, brush my teeth, walk up the stairs.

Post coming soon about Blakey’s FUN, yet quiet, birthday party we had over the weekend. He’s going to be such a great big brother to these two.

A Wonderful Surprise

On Friday, August 24, I had a doctor’s appointment. Well, we did.

I was nervous, emotional, cranky, and anxious. Everything went away, though, when the doctor said, “You are definitely pregnant…and having twins!” Although I’m only 8 weeks and a few days along, I already can’t help but feel completely blessed to be a mom again. It’s been a tough road getting to this point.

Here are a few shots of our happy day. One that will always be treasured.

Glucose Test – Take Two

After getting the awful news that I failed my first glucose test, I had to go back today for a lovely three-hour poking session. Yes, I got my blood drawn four different times…once at 7:00 a.m. then 8, 9, and 10. Did I mention I didn’t get to leave either?

This was my entertainment:

Wish me luck that the results come back okay.

Miss you all! xxoo, Jen

From now on, I’ll get updates on fruits/veggies every month. I guess they ran out of produce. Here’s some information I have this week (and until I reach week 24):

Watch what you say — baby is now able to hear outside noise from down in the womb. Studies show that baby finds gentle music and your own voice most soothing. Nipples are starting to sprout, and that little face is fully formed. And, baby’s starting to settle into sleep cycles, snoozing about 12 to 14 hours a day.

A Banana!

Baby gulps down several ounces of amniotic fluid every day, both for hydration and nutrition and to practice swallowing and digesting. And, these days, those taste buds actually work! Studies show that after birth, babies are most interested in tastes they’ve already experienced through amniotic fluid. Meaning, think about what you want your future child to eat as you prepare your own lunch.

We took a trip to Palm Springs over the weekend (June 6 – 7). It was nice to relax and enjoy the sun. Baby’s first trip out in a bathing suit. I think he liked it…or was it the virgin Pina Coladas he loved so much? Love you all!

P.S. Sunday, we felt the first kick!

Baby Avocado

Hola! In honor of Cinco de Mayo week (or not) the babes is now the size of an Avocado! That explains my urge for guacamole!

More specifics:

Watch what you say…tiny bones forming in baby’s ears means he or she can now pick up your voice. A few more minuscule changes: Eyebrows, lashes, and hair are starting to fill in, and taste buds are forming.

Happy Mother’s Day to my mom and aunties! Love you.
