All About My Baby Boy

We’ve been going non-stop lately with parties, shopping, gift exchanges… So, the real time spent with my little man has been extra special. Maybe it’s because I’m pregnant and know that two babies are going to be here soon. Maybe it’s because B is just growing up so fast. Or that the awful shooting last Friday of those 20 children is still on my mind. I just can’t get enough of my Blake.

What I’ve been loving lately about him:
1. He calls Mike and I: Dad and Mom (no more Daddy and Mommy)
2. His favorite thing to do after his bath is turn on Michael Jackson and dance with us.
3. He loves his glazed doughnuts.
4. He loves to help me cook and Mike clean.
5. His favorite song to sing is It’s a Small World.
6. He feeds the babies Chili Cheese Fritos so that the spices stick to my belly.
7. If I can’t get up easily (this belly is growing!), he says, “I’ll help you!”
8. His favorite movie right now is Home Alone.
9. He has best friends: Tanner and Austin who he always talks about.
10. When I make him breakfast, he says, “Yum Momma this looks good. Thank you.”

21 Weeks & 6 Days

Yes.. once this posts I’ll be 22 weeks already! I can’t believe how fast it’s going… and how slow it’s going. I’ve been so sick lately (hence the lack of blogging) because my immune system sucks.

Thursday, I went to another doc appointment. Here’s some updates on the twinsies:

Twin B is officially ONE POUND and Twin A is not too far behind.
Twin A is still really really active while Twin B poses for the ultrasounds…
Hmm Boy/Girl maybe? :)
And, yes, we still aren’t going to find out the sexes until they are born.

Happy Thanksgiving

What a fun, relaxing day!

We woke up to a delicious breakfast of ‘leftover carne and egg and cheese and cilantro and sour cream burritos’ and great company, as Blake would say: UNCLE (screaming) Jay and Amory (Mallory). After flipping through the Black Friday ads and saying goodbye to Jay and Mal, it was time to cook!

This wasn’t the first time I had cooked a turkey and was excited to host a small, family dinner. As I prepped the bird, M and B had a good time out front at the neighbor’s bounce house. We are so fortunate to live on a great street and everybody was out doing something: flag football games, bikes, drinks, and a lot of laughs.

Jenny and Ronnie arrived right on time to help with the sides (and we had a lot as you’ll see below!). It was nice to be in the kitchen and really cook and talk about our kids growing up together, since Jenny is prego too. Blake went down early after eating (while half asleep) a yogurt. He didn’t want any part of this fantastic meal. Next time.

I sure am thankful for a great life.

All Girls Getaway

Up in the mountains, back in 1959, my Grandpa Stone built this amazing place we now call The Cabin. My Aunt Peggy arranged a fun, relaxing getaway for the girls of the family. While relaxing on the worn-in couches sipping wine (or chugging water, in my case), we chatted about life, family, and growing up. We ate sandwiches and pumpkin bars and veggies and dip. We took pictures of ourselves on the iPad and found out what celebrities we look like (poor Mal, Tom Hanks, really?). I think Jamie won that game–Rachael Leigh Cook look-a-like.

In the morning, we woke up to Aunt Nancy flipping pancakes, just like Grandma used to make, with boysenberry syrup. Such a nice time to really look around at all these great women in my life, and be thankful.

We missed my mom and Crystal but know this is the first of many trips away…to spend time with family…especially just us girls.

15 Weeks

Well, I’ve grown.

I’m finally kinda looking pregnant. And I’m definitely feeling the pains of being pregnant–hello sciatica! With Blake, I got a taste of this uncomfortableness that runs down my back to my bootie. Yes, my bootie. And now with the twins, I’m that girl with a thumb shoved into her “cheek” walking along trying to just get from one room to another.

Four months is just around the corner. Can’t wait to see what new things I can share!

Pumpkin Time

Over the past few years, we have gone to the same pumpkin patch. It’s pretty cool. Great pumpkins to choose from. Rides. Games. Petting zoo. I wish it wasn’t in a mall parking lot but once you’re inside of this place, you forget about the Macy’s glowing, red sign in the background. B loves it and we always seem to have a good time too. In the next few weeks, we hope to go to a more traditional pumpkin patch with hay rides and pumpkins on vines. I need to bring the good camera to that adventure.

Definitely my favorite time of year…

Lake Las Vegas

Gosh a few weeks ago already, we took a family trip to Lake Las Vegas. My mom took care of all the details–the hotel was gorgeous, the rooms were perfect, we were close to Lake Mead. It couldn’t have been a better time.

I think some of my favorite memories include Blake playing with Tess (the dog), playing darts with Aaron, Jamie, Mike, and John, watching Blake go down the water slide with Mike, finding two turtles with Blakey who live at the hotel, hearing the stories of Blake going on the inner tube with Jamie and Mike for the first time, and enjoying a minute with my mom at dinner to chat about the future (still can’t believe twins are on the way).

Now, time for the pictures that really show how much fun we had! That first one is B jumping from bed to bed. See? Fun!

About 13 Weeks Along

Last Friday, I went in for another ultrasound/blood work to check for Down Syndrome. This is the first of many appointments at the main ultrasound place. Because I’m carrying twins, I have to flip back and forth from my regular doc to the ultrasound place. Sounds ok to me! More pics to share of the little ones.

At the time they took these snapshots, Baby A was being difficult (and actually at the regular doc appointment, he/she was being a little crazy… limbs moving every which way!) and Baby B was sitting and waiting for his/her picture to be taken. I wonder if this is how it’s going to be once they arrive. :)

Still craving peanut butter. Soup, crackers, and cheese pizza are my go-tos. Veggie sammies are up there too. I can’t stand the smell of french fries or really any fast food. My skin reminds me of when I was 13 and breaking out everywhere (chest included.. HOT). And.. last but not least, I barely fit into my clothes. I’m excited though…I’m finally feeling better and not so…”I feel like I want to barf” every time I eat, brush my teeth, walk up the stairs.

Post coming soon about Blakey’s FUN, yet quiet, birthday party we had over the weekend. He’s going to be such a great big brother to these two.

xoxo

B Turns 3

Today our little guy turned three. It’s weird that while eating breakfast in bed–a yummy treat of donuts and oj and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse–I started saying, “Three years ago, at 4:25 a.m. we met for the first time…” Then M chimed in, “Hey that’s about the same time he got into bed with us this morning.” It really made me think back of that day and how truly wonderful it was.

And now three years later, B is this funny, crazy, sweet boy. His personality alone makes me smile. And how perceptive he is. And how excited he gets to be around family and “MY friends” at school. I can’t wait to see what this next year holds. We love you baby boy. Happy 3rd Birthday!
