B’s Three Year Check-up

Today, we went to the doctor for Blake’s annual check-up.

Can you believe…?

1. He’s in the 90th percentile for height.
2. His weight is in the 50th percentile.
3. And, of course, he’s borderline anemic just like his mom. Time for some beef!

Our little guy did great–not one tear when they pricked his finger for the iron test or when they poked his arm for the flu shot. All that he said was, “That hurts.” Such a little love.

B Turns 3

Today our little guy turned three. It’s weird that while eating breakfast in bed–a yummy treat of donuts and oj and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse–I started saying, “Three years ago, at 4:25 a.m. we met for the first time…” Then M chimed in, “Hey that’s about the same time he got into bed with us this morning.” It really made me think back of that day and how truly wonderful it was.

And now three years later, B is this funny, crazy, sweet boy. His personality alone makes me smile. And how perceptive he is. And how excited he gets to be around family and “MY friends” at school. I can’t wait to see what this next year holds. We love you baby boy. Happy 3rd Birthday!

A Little Bit of This

Lately, my days have been filled with…

1. Chatting (or I guess Listening):

B has been talking up a storm and we are enjoying every minute of it. Things like, “Momma/Dada, sun down, moon up?” Or when we are driving and I tell him, “Okay we are close. The park is only a little bit away.” He will reply, “Momma, park closed?” He also loves to point out who people are in pictures, especially his Grandma Jeanne (Gamma Jeeeeeeen).

2. Baking and wanting to cook more:

I just made these little cupcakes for a work baby shower. They were a hit! Simple, white cake with white frosting. I also got an email that had Mama DePandi’s Bucatini Pomodoro recipe inside and can’t wait to try it! Doesn’t it look good?

3. Shopping:

I’ve been eye-balling a side cross necklace for awhile but some of these other pieces from Bip and Bop are pretty cute. Loving the skinniness of the bangles.

4. Partying:

It was cousin Tommy’s 3rd Birthday last weekend and we had SO much fun–water balloons, B’s first attempt at a pinata, pizza, fake tattoos that B wanted then wanted to scrub away once they were on, lounging in the pool, and cake pops. Pictures in a few days. Still need to download.

5. Planning:

Summer may be over but we still have one more vacation planned near the end of September with my family. Then M’s out of town… umm Tahoe and then Hawaii for work… SO tough! :) Birthdays. Changes. Tons of fun, new things to blog about!

Hope all is well with you,

J

First Day of Preschool

Last Monday, July 2, B started school. We packed up his lunch (grilled cheese, crackers, fruit snacks, sippy cup, a napkin with ‘a cat dressed up as Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Caribbean’ on it, and a yogurt) and headed off down the street.

B didn’t let me down at all…although a little hesitant, he was excited to play with the trains in the main room. The best part was…he didn’t cry…well, until Friday when I dropped him off again.

It’s official–M is the best at dropping him off (without any tears) and my little boy is growing up!

Here are a few pictures from that day:

Security Blanket

When Blake was one-and-a-half years old, he wouldn’t do much without having to hold something. Eating food, drinking a bottle, and falling asleep all had to be done while touching a toy. And not just any toy. Toys that were meant to ride on. Think….bright colors, hard plastic, and annoying horns.

It drove us nuts! On top of getting him to sit still, heat a bottle, and find a ton of blankets, we had to run around to get one of these huge things that barely fit on the couch.

Tomorrow, B is starting preschool a few days a week. And, as probably most moms are, I’m excited but sad to not have him by my side. What am I going to do without MY security blanket?

Time Flies

It just hit me tonight how fast B is growing up.

1. He can take a shower (wearing my old flip flops) all by himself. Um, shower? He’s a two-year-old! Yeah…baths were replaced awhile ago and yeah, I’m in denial that he’s almost three and not just a two-year-old.

2. He basically gets dressed (and undressed) by himself. Socks are still an issue but we are working on it.

3. In less than a week, he’ll be starting school part-time. My little baby. Monday is going to be a rough one…for me, of course. :)

Hope all is well with you!

Snuggle Up

How fast things change…

Just yesterday we were bringing Blakey home to a brand new crib. It was an amazing feeling of having a little baby that was all mine. He was precious and tiny and good and gentle. I was officially a mom of a boy who would make my life more than I could ever imagine.

And now, today, he has graduated into a twin bed. Not just any bed. A shiny, red Cars Lightning McQueen bed with huge black wheels on the side and stickers to match. He loves it. Earlier today he even jumped up and tucked in Mickey. Tonight, was the first night in a long time, he was excited for it to be bedtime.

I love you my big baby boy. You’re growing up way too fast.

P.S. My first “Goal for the Week” is complete! The top picture (don’t mind the messy hair) would have never made it to the blog if it weren’t for that post.

20.5 Months Old

Because of my baby Blake…

I hope to capture a little bit of what is going on in our lives.

So, here it goes:

We are currently living in an apartment in Aliso Viejo that is beginning to feel smaller and smaller each day. Blake is happiest anywhere but inside–and we feel his pain. Disneyland and Aquarium of the Pacific passes have thankfully kept us busy.

Blake is growing taller everyday. He weighs around 25 lbs. and loves breakfast. Some of his favorite things to eat include homemade banana pancakes, macaroni and cheese with veggies, and french fries when Gamma watches him. Yum! He can walk up stairs, blow kisses, give great hugs around your head, hold (or pull) your hand to take you to play, flip through pictures on an iPhone, play hide and seek, and help with laundry by throwing his clothes in the dryer.

We laugh the most when Blake sees a bird and says, “Ca-Ca!” or rides a train and says, “Woo-Woo!” while doing his arm motion. He has such a personality… Can’t wait to share more.

Hop Hop – Easter 2011

Easter was such a fun day. Well… not only the day-of but leading up to it as well.

Easter Bunny & Blakey

The Highlights:
4/2/11–Blake-size Easter Bunny
So, we went to South Coast Plaza to walk around not planning on doing anything Easter related. But as we rounded the corner, there sat the fluffy, mechanical, dog-resembling, talking Bunny. Because there wasn’t a line, we decided to do it. I have to admit–the thing was freaky. Blake loved it though because it talked to him…like real sentences, “Hi Blake. I’m the Easter Bunny.” He loved it so much that before we left while giving it a hug, he almost ripped the creepy thing’s head off.

4/23/11–Vinegar & Blakey don’t mix
The night before Easter, we decided to dye eggs. A gallon of vinegar and a fun Easter kit might sound like a good time but with a one year old, not so much.

End result: Mike attempted to dye one egg, Blake broke another egg, and I finished up the rest on the kitchen counter.

Where's the egg?

4/24/11–Easter Day

Even though he’s little, Blakey sure is smart and completely understood the fun of finding Easter eggs. I shared this picture with Jamie and a few others because it was the cutest.

We ended up at my mom’s house and spent the day hunting for eggs and enjoying some family time.

Gosh, I can’t wait to have more kiddies. Love you!
