Goal for the Week

Yep. Completely aware it’s Tuesday and I’m already a day late. Dang Mondays.

So my goal this week is to charge my good camera, I’ve been neglecting, and download those precious pictures of my family. Everyday I’m reminded how fast these days are flying by and wish I didn’t rely on my cell phone so much. Those pics never look good as 5X7s.

Thank you te and baby for making me get this out there (to my two readers) and holding me accountable for something.

An Awesome Book!

When, or if, you have kids, you become a little obsessed with decoding baby talk, holidays, and books. One of my favorite books that Mike’s mom had stored away for our unborn baby was Love You Forever by Robert Munsch. It’s a rough one to get through without tissues nearby.

Today, as I worked, checked my very-limited RSS feed, flipped through my instagram pics, browsed blogs, I noticed a lot of publicity for this children’s book called An Awesome Book!. So, I took a look. It’s inspiring. Not only for little ones; it speaks to adults just the same. The great thing about the author, Dallas Clayton, is that he had a dream of writing and publishing a book. But no one wanted to help him. So he did it himself. Watch this.

Dallas also went on to feature the book (for free!) online. Take a look here. I promise you won’t be disappointed.

It’s time to dream big!

A Post-riffic Mother’s Day

I’ve had a lot of things on my mind lately. The best thing to get over a brain full of awfulness? Blake. :)

Mother’s Day was definitely something I was looking forward to. We decided to spend a day at Blakey’s favorite place–Disneyland. (Surprised? I know. We are becoming regulars… Good thing is, I’m trying to fill-in-the-blanks for those days..or um..years I skipped adding things to the blog…way before Mickey Mouse was in the picture.) Anyway, here are a few shots of us enjoying another fun day. This time I was treated to a new “Tink” shirt and a yummy cookie in the shape of Mic himself (that thing B is holding that resembles a character minus the eyes). His pants were tasty.

Exhausted at 2pm, we decided to leave and stop by the place where Mike’s Mom is buried. It’s always a bittersweet day for us. She encompassed everything I want to be for Blake: patient, sweet, and always there for her child–no matter what. Blakey brought tears to our eyes when he rolled up his hand painted card, put it in her flower holder, and gave her a kiss. In true form though, he then started kissing everyone’s plaque. Mike said, “Oh I’m sure Grandma Jeanne’s neighbors sure like those kisses!” He’s such a love.

M + B, thanks for a very special day. I’m so thankful to be a mom.

GIRLS

Heating pad, laptop, GIRLS. My new obsession–GIRLS on HBO. It’s hilarious in such a refreshing, quirky way. I love the dynamic of the friendships and when I watched episode three, when the girls are dancing in their apartment, I missed being 20.

I go in tomorrow for my results. Wish me luck on a quick, and relatively painless, plan to get rid of these cysts.

Reflection Time: Jen

When I was 16 years old, I thought I would never be a mom. Weird how things change.

I read an excerpt today from The Wiegand’s blog that really stood out to me (regarding motherhood and raising children):

“I never could relate to the negativity or the frustrations- all of that seems so small to me in comparison to how much life motherhood gives my soul.”

I have a hard time relating to the moms/dads who only see the negative too. My struggles seem to be so short-lived once I see my cute babes standing there…waiting to be hugged or giving me air kisses.

On Friday, I learned that I have three cysts on one of my ovaries. The thought of not being able to have kids, as easily as some, is now haunting me. Who really cares about the small frustrations that a two-year-old might cause? It’s nothing compared to not being frustrated at all.

Ice Cream Trip In Our PJs

Pajamas + Rain = An Impromptu Trip For Ice Cream

On Wednesday, April 25, after sitting around the house for a little too long, we decided to get some dessert at Baskin Robbins. I didn’t care that Blakey was in his pjs or that it was probably a little too late for a two-year-old to be out (8pm). We just wanted some family time–and we got it!

After Blakey decided on orange sherbert, we all got a scoop (or two) and enjoyed the nice, rainy but humid weather.

I’m loving every single minute of being a mom. I’d highly recommend it!

Love you all,
J

KeeKee (Mickey) Mouse

Blake LOVES that Dumbo. It’s right outside of (obviously) the Dumbo ride as well as the Casey Jr. Train. His favorite, by far, is that Train so it’s a good distraction for about 1.2 minutes while waiting in line.

We visited Disneyland Sunday, April 22 and it was packed. Papa, Gamma (hot lady next to Blake in the picture), Mike, Blake, and I got there in the afternoon. The usual happened–Mike was hungry, Blake got cranky, Papa looked like a Golf Pro in his well-put-together outfit, and Gamma had snacks to distract Blake in her backpack. Oh.. and I was worn out after ride three.

When Mom suggested we stop over to “see” the wine/vineyard restaurant in California Adventure, I nearly dropped everything and started walking that way. But, as always, my precious Blake reminded me that Toddler Time comes first. :) We had a great day with the grandparents!

What life is all about: Easter 2012

Such fun!

I haven’t blogged in awhile and feel awful about it. I promised myself to keep at least an online journal/diary of what was going on in Blake’s life… and so, it’s time to start up again.

We had a GREAT time at Easter this year… Tommy and Blake got to play with water balloons and shoot each other with water guns, and hunt for eggs; The guys got to watch The Masters; The girls got to play with the kiddies and munch on deviled eggs, lemon cupcakes, and ham sandwiches. It was perfect.

Mallory just sent me an email that read:
“Thank you Jenn for including us! We all had a really good time. I picked Thomas up from school on Tuesday for Ryan, and as soon as we started driving home he told me “We go to Blake’s house?” :) We will have to have to plan something soon, so the next generation of cousins can play together!”

Lack of sleep

For the past few nights (or weeks), Blake has decided to skip sleeping through the night and wake up around 12:30AM. Last night, Mike had to take him for a ride in the car around 2:30AM with no luck.

Finally, he fell asleep in his stroller in the middle of the living room. We even had to prop the stroller next to his bed so he could hold it while he went to sleep! Three hours later we were all back in bed.

Exhausted and mentally drained… Where is our house?

PS: Doesn’t it look like he just KNOWS he’s going to give us trouble? :)

20.5 Months Old

Because of my baby Blake…

I hope to capture a little bit of what is going on in our lives.

So, here it goes:

We are currently living in an apartment in Aliso Viejo that is beginning to feel smaller and smaller each day. Blake is happiest anywhere but inside–and we feel his pain. Disneyland and Aquarium of the Pacific passes have thankfully kept us busy.

Blake is growing taller everyday. He weighs around 25 lbs. and loves breakfast. Some of his favorite things to eat include homemade banana pancakes, macaroni and cheese with veggies, and french fries when Gamma watches him. Yum! He can walk up stairs, blow kisses, give great hugs around your head, hold (or pull) your hand to take you to play, flip through pictures on an iPhone, play hide and seek, and help with laundry by throwing his clothes in the dryer.

We laugh the most when Blake sees a bird and says, “Ca-Ca!” or rides a train and says, “Woo-Woo!” while doing his arm motion. He has such a personality… Can’t wait to share more.
